Greystone GT have completed their McLaren Trophy Europe line-up with rising star Sam Neser and international single-seater race winner Josh Mason joining the Silverstone-based team that are aiming for a third title-winning season in a row.
The pair of British drivers will share a McLaren Artura Trophy Evo for the Silverstone-based team and will begin their campaign on home soil at Brands Hatch, Kent, on May 4-5 in the series’ new-for-2025 ‘Pro’ category.
This entry increases the roster of Greystone GT; the 2023 Teams’ Champions and last year’s 570S Trophy title-winners, to four full-season entries with Jayden Kelly & Michael O’Brien, Ryan James & Oli Webb and Ron Trenka & Jon Lancaster already confirmed.
Sam, from Norfolk, will create a new milestone by becoming the youngest driver to compete in the McLaren Trophy Europe when he debuts aged 17 years and 116 days at Brands Hatch next month.
He began racing cars in 2023, aged just 15, and won the highly competitive Fiesta Junior Championship in his debut season. He then became the youngest starter, pole-sitter and race winner in the Britcar Trophy in 2024.
Victory on his sportscar racing debut in the GT Cup at Silverstone in July was followed by a treble success in the GTH class for GT4 racing cars at the final round.
Team-mate Josh, from East Sussex, will make his sportscar debut at Brands Hatch, but brings significant experience from a successful career in junior single-seater categories in the UK and internationally.
Since 2019 the 23-year-old has scored race wins in BRDC F3 (now known as GB3), the Euroformula Open and Formula Renault Oceania in a career that has brought him to the FIA Formula 2 Championship and Indy NXT in North America.
The duo began their pre-season programme together with tests at Brands Hatch and Silverstone this week.
Sam Neser said: “I’m thrilled to join Greystone GT for the McLaren Trophy Europe. The McLaren Artura Trophy Evo is a mega racing car and to have the chance to race it at legendary circuits like Spa and Monza is really exciting. I had a good feeling with Greystone GT from the first time I tested the car and having experienced championship-winning drivers like Oli Webb and Michael O’Brien to learn from will be a huge bonus. I’m not underestimating the task of racing a new car at new tracks against new opponents, but I’ve been able to raise my performance every time I’ve stepped up a level and I’m aiming to do the same this year.”
Josh Mason said: “I’m so excited to be making my sportscar racing debut with Greystone GT in the McLaren Trophy Europe. It’s a high-level series with some hugely experienced drivers – including our team-mates – and it races at some of the best tracks on the continent, including my favourite, Spa-Francorchamps. The target whenever I move to a new series is to be near the front and I’ve usually managed to do it. GT racing is a new challenge for me and Sam, but I firmly believe we have the potential to win and we’ll be doing everything we can to put ourselves in that position.”
Mark McLoughlin, Team Principal, said: “We’re excited to have Sam and Josh on board for 2025. In the short time he’s been racing cars, Sam has proven he can adapt quickly and fight at the front, while Josh has been a regular race winner in some competitive single-seater series. Both are very talented and will be able to learn from the established professional drivers in the team and I’m sure they will each make their mark early on.”
