Greystone GT are delighted to announce that reigning McLaren Trophy Europe 570S Champions Ryan James and Oli Webb will remain with the team for 2025 and step up to the main Artura Trophy category.
Ryan and Oli dominated the 570S class this year, winning eight of the 10 races, finishing on the podium in the other two and taking eight pole positions as they clinched the title at Monza, Italy, with three races to go.
They will now graduate to the top division in the Artura with the latest ‘Evo’ specification version of the British-built supercar.
American Ryan impressed in what was his maiden season of racing in 2024. After scoring class wins in the Gulf Procar Series in the Middle East, he adapted quickly to the demands of the McLaren race car alongside Oli.
Most significantly, he became the first 570S Trophy driver – and the first bronze-graded driver – to set an overall fastest race lap in damp conditions at the Barcelona finale.
His professional co-driver Oli, meanwhile, brings a wealth of sportscar racing experience from his decade in the discipline.
The Knutsford racer has won the European Le Mans Series title, scored an LMP2 podium at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, an outright Dubai 24 Hours success and a GT4 win – with Greystone GT – at the Gulf 12 Hours.
He has also amassed single-seater wins in the prestigious British Formula 3 and Formula Renault Championships plus podiums in Indy Lights in North America.
The duo began their preparations for the new season by racing an Artura Trophy car at Yas Marina, UAE, recently and winning both rounds of the Gulf Procar Endurance Challenge from pole position.
The McLaren Trophy Europe season begins at Brands Hatch, UK on May 3-4, 2025.
Ryan James said: “My first year in racing has been a dream come true. To win a championship was way beyond expectations, but Oli and Greystone GT have been awesome with me and I can’t wait to start the 2025 season in the Artura Trophy with the new ‘Evo’ car. Having raced an Artura in Abu Dhabi recently, it’s definitely a step on from the 570S so the challenge is to get as familiar as I can with the car before we get to Brands Hatch in May.”
Oli Webb said: “It’s really exciting to be racing the Artura in 2025 and to be staying with Greystone GT, who’ve done such a great job of preparing Ryan’s car for the past year. Ryan’s made huge progress and has been strong in testing in the Artura, so I’m optimistic we’ll have a good year on tracks he knows in a car he’s becoming more familiar with. The Artura feels more like a thoroughbred race car than the 570S while the electronics package means it’s also more accessible to a less experienced driver like Ryan, so that should be good for both of us.”
Mark McLoughlin, Team Principal, said: “We are extremely proud to be able to announce our first 2025 line-up so early and, of course, to see our reigning 570S Trophy Champions Ryan and Oli move into the new Artura Trophy Evo. Ryan has made impressive progress in his rookie season and Oli is one of the most experienced and fastest GT drivers around and has done a great job in helping Ryan develop in all areas of his racing. We’re proud to have won titles in both years of the McLaren Trophy Europe and we’re aiming for even more in 2025.”
