Double assault for Oli Webb with Greystone GT in 2024

International sportscar champion Oli Webb is primed for an assault on two major European series with Greystone GT this year.

The 33-year-old from Knutsford, Cheshire, will contest the International GT Open and the McLaren Trophy Europe with the Silverstone-based team, for which he has played a key role since its establishment in 2021.

Oli has been one of Greystone GT’s most successful drivers to date. He took the team’s first podium finish in its debut season and then added a GT4 win at the Gulf 12 Hours as well as overall victories in the GT Cup in 2022.

Having won races in Formula Renault, F3 and Indy Lights, his switch to sportscars has already resulted in the 2014 European Le Mans Series crown, outright victory at the following year’s Dubai 24 Hours and an LMP2 podium at the Le Mans 24 Hours. His most recent success was a TCR victory at January’s Dubai 24H.

He will remain with his 2023 British GT Championship co-driver Andrey Borodin as the duo switch to the GT Open to once again campaign a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.

Andrey, entering his fourth year as a Greystone GT driver, scored a Silver-Am podium on his British GT debut in 2022 and last year scored three podiums in the UK’s GT Cup as well as setting his first fastest lap and pole position at Silverstone.

Having been a podium finisher in the McLaren Trophy Europe’s Artura division in 2023, Oli will this time contest the 570S Trophy category with Ryan MacGregor.

The International GT Open begins at Portimao, Portugal, on April 26-28 while the McLaren Trophy Europe starts at Misano, Italy, on May 17-19.

Oli Webb said: “I’m ready to go for the new season and really pleased to have programmes in two strong international championships in place with Greystone GT, a team I’ve been part of since their inception and who I’ve seen evolve into a strong operation. GT Open fits brilliantly into the gap between a top national series and the FIA WEC and having a full grid of GT3 cars will be exciting to be a part of. Andrey has made a lot of progress over the past 12 months and he knows what’s required to compete at this level. The McLaren Trophy Europe is a high-level series but without the extra pressure of GT3 racing so it’s also perfect for what my co-driver needs. We’ll be aiming for the title in the 570 class.”

Mark McLoughlin, Team Principal, said: “It’s great to be able to confirm our return to the International GT Open as well as announcing our second McLaren Trophy entry and to have a driver of the quality of Oli at the forefront of both entries. Oli’s work with both of his co-drivers has helped them develop their skills a huge amount over the past year. While they’re both new to their respective series and Oli himself has never raced in GT Open, I’m certain we have everything we need to give them the best chance of achieving strong results in both series.”
